THE DYSTONIA COLLECTIVE
Our Objective
The Dystonia Collective is established to be a charity whose purpose is to advance health by:
Background
They Dystonia Collective was established in October 2017 by a group of people who know someone that is affected by Dystonia. As a group we found that there was little to no knowledge of this condition in the wider community and therefore little support for those suffering from Dystonia.
Dystonia is a neurological movement disorder syndrome in which sustained or repetitive muscle contractions result in twisting and repetitive movements or abnormal fixed postures.
We are starting out as a small group of people who are trying to raise awareness of this disease and to provide support or assistance to those with the condition. We are a passionate group of people who are starting out small but hope that this charity will grow in the future.
We have aspirations that by establishing this charity and laying the ground work for it, that in the future it will be something that people with Dystonia will operate in the future.
Our Main Activities
Our main activities will be to utilise the skills of the volunteer board members to gain better awareness of Dystonia in the wider Australian public. This will be achieved through fundraising activities and social media platforms.
We will also support those with Dystonia, by providing information and online community. We also hope that through this online community and fundraising we can help people with Dystonia to find appropriate services and treatments.
Once we are more established as a charity in the future we would like to fund research programs.
Resources
At this stage our Charity is run by volunteers, and all resources are supplied via fundraising activities, such as donations, raffles, auctions, and our flagship annual charity festival - The Dystonic Blues Fest.
Legal Structure
We are currently set up as an Unincorporated Entity
ABN: 87 527 764 615
Charity Type: Advancing Health;
Subtype: Health Promotion Charity
